"Burn Barrel" sessions can be one on one, or in a group environment.
These sessions fall under the umbrella of Critical Incident Stress Management.
Like CISD, or Critical Incident Stress Debrief, the “Burn Barrel” sessions are NOT to replace or remove counseling sessions recommended by or administered from a professional counselor or psychologist.
Burn Barrel sessions are informal meetings or “venting” about a particular person(s), event, or incident.
Most soldiers, or veterans are familiar with burn barrel sessions as a way to speak their mind or chime in on the process of something without being ridiculed or punished by their Chain of Command.
As such, law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders sometimes have issues with their partners, SOP’s, and other events that they want to talk to someone about that understands or has been around a similar event.
Thus, Brother’s in Arms has created “Burn Barrel” sessions.
These sessions can take place at your location, our location, or within your department if you or your supervisor would like to host a session and clear some air around “the burn barrel.”
(Nothing leaves the barrel and
